BACKGROUND: Swinburne University of Technology (SUT) and Woodside Energy Ltd (WEL) are seeking a suitably qualified student to undertake post-graduate study to develop a wave forecast model suitable for extreme tropical cyclone conditions. The Coastal Engineering and Physical Oceanography group of the Faculty specialises in research of deep-water and finite-depth wave dynamics, spectral modelling of wind-generated waves, wave breaking and dissipation, air-sea interaction, wave-bottom interaction and turbulence.

[Australia] Tuition Fee Waivers for International Higher Degree Research Students, The University of Queensland
The School of Engineering, The University of Queensland, aims to strengthen its research quality and output by recruiting the best international students from around the world. The School is waiving PhD tuition fees worth approximately $30,000 per year, for suitably qualified international students who undertake any of the specified research projects. Conditions of eligibility for tuition fee waiver The student must have a four-year Bachelor of Engineering/Science degree with at least the equivalent of Honours, Class 1. The student must have sufficient English language proficiency at the time of enrolment to meet the University’s entry requirements (IETLS: 6.5 overall, with 6 in writing). The student must be enrolled 100% through the School of Engineering. The principal supervisor must fund a full stipend at least equivalent to the current APA rate. The principal supervisor must have sufficient research funds available to pay all laboratory costs, provide the student with a new personal computer/laptop and pay for attendance at an international conference. The student must be selected through a competitive process. The fee waiver is for a maximum of 3.5 years The student must apply for an IPRS/Endeavour Scholarship or other similar support. All cases need to be approved by the Head of School.

[Australia] Scholarships Open for Political Advisors Course
Australian Labor’s International Unit and the University of Sydney’s Graduate School of Government (GSG) are offering 15 scholarships to take part in a groundbreaking short course for political and policy advisors from Asia and the Pacific as part of the Australian Political Parties for Democracy Program (APPDP). Self funding applicants will also be considered. The five day program emphasises practical skill development. It will cover policy negotiation, the public service, public policy implementation, advisory skills, the role of the member’s office and the relationship between policy making and political campaigning. Course presenters are all practitioners with extensive experience in politics and public service. The program will include attachments to ministerial offices in New South Wales. For consideration for this course, you will have 3-5 years working in a legislator’s office, an undergraduate degree or alternative qualification and accredited English language competence (either a formal test score, completion of study in English or completion of an assignment/essay).

[Australia] International Postgraduate Scholarships in Engineering and Surveying
USQ Faculty of Engineering and Surveying offers a number of scholarships to commencing International students who intend to undertake a Master of Engineering, Engineering Research PhD or Master of Engineering Technology full-time, on-campus at USQ in Toowoomba or Springfield. Scholarship value Scholarships for the Master of Engineering and Engineering Research PhD will be paid to the value of 50% of tuition fees. A stipend of $10,000 is also available to assist with living expenses. Students also have the opportunity to earn further income through input into the academic program by marking and tutoring. Scholarships for the Master of Engineering Technology will be paid to the value of 25% of tuition fees only.

[Australia] Engineering (ICT) International Undergraduate Scholarship for 2008
Engineering (ICT) International Undergraduate Scholarship for 2008 offers students the opportunity to obtain an undergraduate qualification at UTS:Engineering. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of the student’s year 12 (or equivalent) results. The scholarship is also open to diploma holders. Engineering (ICT) International Undergraduate Scholarship for 2008 covers 50% of the tuition fees commencing from the first semester of study for a period of four years. One student will be selected per semester and the commencement of the scholarship will be the same as the commencement of the student’s Bachelor of Engineering.

The Endeavour International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (EIPRS) is available to any international student wishing to undertake a Higher Degree by Research at Curtin in 2009. The Endeavour International Postgraduate Research Scholarship provides: course tuition fee for two years for a Masters by Research and three years for a Doctoral degree; and Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the recipient and their dependants for the duration of the award. No other allowances are available under this award. A Curtin University Postgraduate Scholarship (CUPS) living allowance will be awarded to the top two ranked applicants in each awarding year.
