It is equivalent to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Anglo-Saxon countries. The principal objective of a Research Doctorate Program is to educate graduate students on carrying out pure or applied scientific research, in the ambit of the chosen discipline. The University of Naples Federico II is a large research university and the oldest state university in the world. Its Research Doctorate Programs aim to train a selected number of young people, endowed with a high quality preparation and having the enjoyment for the research, to a high level of scientific, technical and professional qualification. The Doctorate Schools of the University promote advanced training in almost all the fields of the knowledge by organizing basic courses of wide and considerable scientific content both with the support of its own professors and with the aid of the Italian and foreign scholars. Specific courses related to the chosen research program are organized by the single Doctorate Courses. [Italy] Scholarships for Professional Master on Technologies for E-Government, University of Trento
Jointly organized by the University of Trento, ITC-IRST, and Informatica Trentina With the cooperation of CNR and our industrial partners: IBM, SAP, DeltaDator, GPI, and DERGA e-Government is one of the application areas that will experience the strongest growth - and demand for talents - over the next decade. The demand, initiated by public administrations, translates in the need for IT companies to hire employees with the competences required to deliver e-government solutions. To meet the industrial demand, the master on technologies for e-government will provide attendees with such competences. Specifically, the master will form professionals able to manage, design, and deliver e-government solutions. This requires bringing together the expertise in the areas of public administration (and of the information systems currently exploited to deliver services to citizens and companies) and the expertise in innovative solutions in the areas of information management, process management, service-oriented architectures, services science, and security.

[Italy] PhD Student Position in Molecular Sciences and Plant, Food and Environmental Biotechnology, University of Milano
Marie Curie Research Training Networks Contract Number: MRTN-CT-2006-035833 Vacuolar Transport Equipment for Growth Regulation in Planta www.vatep.eu Acronym: VaTEP Starting date of the Contract: October 1, 2006. Duration: 48 months VaTEP is a Marie Curie Research Training Network which offers a structured 3-year training for European PhD students. PhD students will be trained in a biological discipline that covers multiple levels and links molecular events to whole-tissue growth in plants. VaTEP research projects specifically target plant transport proteins located in the vacuolar membrane (i.e. the tonoplast). Analysis of such multi-scale processes (i.e., plant growth processes) requires highly skilled researchers that are strong in interdisciplinary thinking and trained in using various types of technologies, ranging from molecular biology, through electrophysiology, biochemistry, and cell biology to highly resolved non-invasive characterisation of whole-plant growth by digital image analysis. In VaTEP, research and training of young researchers is explicitly guided by this view.
